Pathetic Losers Club

Need I say more? Perhaps it is not fashionable to pile on Coach Mike Krzyzewski from Duke as everyone else does. Believe ME, though, this little pud is worth the effort! Not only does he cry to the referees, cry to the NCAA, cry to the media, but now he has the chutzpah to bitch about President Obama not picking his team for the final four. I am sure there are tons of people blogging about this today, but it's impossible not to comment on what nonsense goes on in that piece of shit town Durham where he coaches.

For those of you who don't give a shit about basketball, President Obama earlier this week made his choices for who would win the National Collegiate Athletic Association Men's basketball tournament. As you probably have guessed by now, President Obama did not choose Duke to advance very far in the tournament. In fairness to Coach K, all he said what that the President should probably worry more about the economy than picking his brackets. Reading between the lines, however, Coach K was being typical Coach K.

The students who attend Duke are predominantly white, upper-middle class privileged kids who have never wanted for anything in their lives. When something doesn't go their way, they cry like the spoiled brats they are. You know, come to think of it, Coach K is actually the perfect fit for that school.

There have been some GREAT players who have matriculated from Duke in spite of the terrible example Coach K sets for his players. I truly have nothing against the players who play for Duke or who have participated in the program in the past. But this guy is a prick, through and through. You know what, MIKE...maybe you should worry about getting past your first round opponent and stop worrying that the President has "disrespected" your team like EVERYONE else outside of Durham since no one I know has picked Duke to get anywhere near the sweet 16. Face it, Coach, your team isn't that good this year.

How many formats do I need to connect to?

Blogging, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Plaxo, Twitter...how many more formats are out there where I need to enter and REenter my contact information? Half my work day is taken up by the newest online format that I feel compelled to register. I guess competition is what pushes capitalism but I'm slightly losing my mind!

Can someone help me out? Let me know the most important format(s) to be a part of and I will disregard all the rest. Is there anyone out there feeling the same way?

Sorry, I screwed up!

All right, so this blogging shit is harder than I thought. How about I promise to post every OTHER day? Seems a bit more realistic, huh?. To make up for it, how about a semi-dirty joke? This one compliments of my good friend Jeff Bae:

Two explorers are exploring in the deepest, darkest part of Africa. They get lost and are captured by native Africans. They are tied up and the chief addresses them.

"You have trespassed on sacred tribal land," he said. "You must be punished. You can choose death or Roo-Roo!"

The first explorer thinks to himself that he certainly does not want to die, so he sheepishly says, "I'll take Roo-Roo..." Right then, all the male tribe members rape him anally. Every single one has sex with him up his ass.

The chief says to the second explorer, "So...what's it gonna be?" The explorer replies, "Death sounds good to me after what you just did to my friend!"

The chief then exclaims, "OKAY! DEATH BY ROO-ROO!"

The Devil

DeWitt Baker, an investor who attended the hearing and said he lost more than $1 million with Madoff, called it "fantastic" that Madoff's bail was revoked but belittled the apology.
"I don't think he has a sincere bone in his body," said Baker, who added that prison time would be too good for Madoff. "I'd stone him to death."

I couldn't agree more. As a liberal, I am vehemently opposed to the death penalty. I will make an exception for this guy, though. Truth of the matter is that Bernie Madoff will never do the "hard" time we all want him to do. He's going to be sent to a country-club prison with cable TV, conjugal visits, great food, etc.

Moral of the story: be careful out there.

Some of my favorite things...(advertisers pay attention)

So I told my wonderful wife that I started a blog. "That's nice, dear" she said a little dismissively, which is fine. She then found an article which she promptly placed on my dresser about people making money on the internet by blogging. I love my wife and her new entrepreneurial spirit, so while I am convinced no one has read my blog yet in the three (3) days it has been in existence, that's not going to stop me from continuing to blog and maybe attract some advertisers in the meantime (especially if I pimp their products!).

A disclaimer before I make a list of my favorite websites: For the retail sites, I have purchased at least one item from the following list and if I was not completely satisfied with either the product, shipping time, service or general layout of the website, I did not include it in the list. The other sites listed are just personal favorites that give you an insight into my varied interests. Here goes:

1. http://www.shirtsmyway.com/index.php: I wear a shirt and tie to work each day. I have spend thousands of dollars on shirts over the years that while nice, were not custom made. That has changed. With prices around $60-$70 per shirt, this site is one of the greatest things on the internet. There are other custom shirt sites out there, but this one is extremely user friendly. Check it out.

2. http://www.foodnetwork.com/: One of my more recent hobbies is cooking. There are hundreds of cooking websites with recipes, but the Food TV website is the most user-friendly and has great recipes. Bon Appetit!

3. http://www.ebay.com/: Fairly obvious and everyone knows about ebay. I have purchased 100's of items and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from ebay and contrary to popular belief, most sellers and buyers are reputable and honorable. If you are looking for something specific, I recommend starting with ebay and seeing what is available. Trust me, you will be glad you did and most likely will get it for less.

4. http://www.zappos.com/: Hands down, the greatest customer service anywhere in the world. FAST, FREE shipment 99% of the time. While not the cheapest shoes, clothing and accessories available, you cannot choose a better selling website. Check out the great selection of Uggs and outdoor apparel and shoes.

5. http://www.miniclip.com/games/en/: Need a mindless distraction from work? This is one of the best online gaming sites around, constantly adding new time wasters for those of us who need a break in our monotonous day. Careful...it can be addicting.

6. http://www.groominglounge.com/: I have a long history with the boys from Grooming Lounge. They are personal friends and I visit the retail stores once a month for haircut, hot lather shave and sometimes massage. The men's grooming products they sell on their site are outstanding in quality and shipping is fast. Keep yourself groomed, dude!

7. http://www.cryptomundo.com/: One of my stranger hobbies is Bigfoot. Bigfoot! You know, the cryptid. What's a cryptid?! (Sigh)...just go to the damn blog and read. Loren Coleman is the preeminent Cryptozoologist in the world and he reports on as yet undiscovered species on this planet. Trust me, you will get hooked and read his blog daily.

8. http://www.opentable.com/: As an aspiring "foodie," I like to eat out often and experience that latest and greatest restaurants in my area. This site will help you make online reservations at local area restaurants and provide "points" when you show up for the reservation. You can redeem your points for dining checks good at the participating restaurants. Try it, it's fun!

9. http://www.replicaexpert.us/home.php: Another hobby of mine is watches. I love them and I'm slowly building a nice collection. This is one exception to the disclaimer. I have not purchased from this site yet but plan to very soon. I think someone who spends over a few hundred dollars on a watch in this economy should have their head examined, but that doesn't mean you can't "look" like you do! It appears that these replica watches are very high quality. I'll write an update once I purchase.

10. http://www.dell.com/: A little boring, I know, but I have purchased a couple Dell computers and while not the cheapest you can buy, I really like the quality and service that Dell provides. As you know, I am a big fan of anything that you can customize for your personal tastes, and that is the founding principle of Dell.

That's enough for now. I'll do another top 10 site sometime next month. Ahem, all you websites I just mentioned, let the ads pour on it!!! Baby needs a new pair of shoes (from Zappos!)

One-a-day keeps the haters away

One thing about me, I hate unprofessionalism and lack of detail. If I am going to do this thing, I'm going to do it right. My only goal with this blog is have a take and try not to suck every day (I listen to a lot of Jim Rome sports radio). I don't care if anyone reads this blog or not, I'm still going to write and pour my heart and soul into this online journal (so when I'm gone my mourners will see what a kook I really was in life).

TODAY is Tuesday, March 10th. On my mind today is (of course) the shitty economy. It's going to be the topic of discussion for many days (possibly years) to come, I'm afraid. Having said that, if you think about it, the economy is all anyone every thinks about or talks about. Even when things are going well, it's what stocks to invest in, start-up companies, silicon valley, what new car to buy, saving for retirement, etc. Capitalism fosters this environment of the haves and have-nots. This is the major point that conservatives cannot grasp why "the other guys" want it any other way. In their minds, the harder you work the more you will receive. Unfortunately, we all know this is fabrication. That argument is much too involved for this small post.

What did Bill Clinton's advisers say when he was running against George Herbert Walker Bush? "It's the economy, stupid." There is no playbook in how to run a successful economy. Conservatives argue that there is one and it's called "free markets" with "no government intervention." That's exactly what has happened to get us in this mess. "Greed, for lack of a better word, is good." -Gordon Gecko

In any event, if you're reading this and struggling to make ends meet, take comfort in the fact that everyone, everywhere is feeling it and it will get better. Tough times don't last, tough people do. This current crisis may be the best thing for us, sort of like a wake-up call about saving money and spending wisely. Anyway, I promise to post on anything BUT the economy tomorrow (not that anyone is reading this!)

The First One--SHUT UP MEDIA!!!

So here goes, my first foray into the blogging world. So a little about what I do: I help people live healthier lives as the Membership Director at an upscale athletic club in Washington, D.C. with locations in New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County and Beverly Hills. I have a wonderful family and I help support them (along with my amazing wife who is in the healthcare field) through selling memberships to the athletic club. I don't brag often (all right, that's not entirely true), but I am DAMN good at my job and I work hard at being the best I can be.

My very first blog concerns, what else...the current state of the American and global economy. My personal major issue is not with Republicans, Democrats, Congress, stimulus packages, etc. It's with the GODDAMNED MEDIA! It's no secret that in order for companies and businesses to thrive, they need to sell shit. How the hell is anyone going to buy anything and revive our faultering economy if EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY the media paints a doomsday, end-of-all-things depression scenario for Joe the Plummer watching at home?

By now I'm sure everyone has seen the news item that in our downtrodden economy there are one or two companies posting profits and one of those companies is McDonald's. I have nothing against the Golden Arches per se, but Americans are forgoing healthy (but expensive) food for the inexpensive food served at fast food places in addition to cancelling health club memberships to cut expenses. This, in turn, is making Americans fatter than we already are and will contribute to unhealthy lifestyles. This, in turn, drives the cost of health care to go up and preventable diseases like diabetes and heart disease will only rise given this disturbing trend.

So, why all the ranting and raving? There's nothing we can do about it, right? The media is not to blame, it's Bush, it's Clinton, it's greedy companies and banks. The media just reports the news. What I am proposing is to SPEND your money on quality things that will enhance and lenghten your life. When people talk about cutting things out, very little thought is given to a $200/month cable bill but $100/month is too much to exercise?

Yes, this post is self-serving. Yes, I care about my family and providing them everything they deserve in life. But it's not like I'm selling drugs or advocating murder! Tell the media to shut the fuck up and spend your money!
